Wasting Time and Money

The greatest deliberative body in the world, well at least that is what it used to be called, the U.S. Senate, is about to undertake an impeachment trial of a former president. All one is left to say is “wow, what an absolutely colossal waste of time and money.” Reading through a number of “news” stories today it would seem that the most pressing need in this country is to put the former president through nothing more than a show trial for “inciting” the “attack” on the U.S. Capitol building on January 6, 2021. Perhaps those who rushed to judgement regarding who was responsible for what occurred should take a deep breath, open up their own twitter accounts and read through them carefully. Of course, that would require level of self examination, which is highly unlikely.

So, instead of focusing on working to reopen the country so that most of the population can get back to work, support their families, maybe go to school, and pursue some level of happiness, the so-called leaders in D.C. will put the country through what can only be described as a complete waste of time and money. “All politics all the time” is quite shameful on the part of representatives and senators who were elected to do the people’s business. Perhaps it is time in this country to return to a format where being a politician is a temporary job and not a career. The outlook for such a change is grim, but it sure would make wasting time and money while “on the job” considerably less attractive.
